Electronic Ink http://www.printomatic.com/ Updates and information about Adobe Director and Xtras from the creators of PrintOMatic. en-us Thu, 24 Apr 2008 03:40:00 GMT Sat, 26 Apr 2008 17:15:17 GMT Thu, 24 Apr 2008 03:40:00 GMT PrintOMatic 1.8 Beta 2
Beta 2 of PrintOMatic MX and PrintOMatic Lite MX 1.8 for Macintosh are now available. These builds are universal binary, and should work on both Intel and PowerPC based Macs. They require Director 11.

As we have no PowerPC Macs to test with, it would be nice if someone can confirm that the PPC build works as expected. Also, we have no idea how these Xtras will work with foreign languages (especially the really crazy ones like Japanese), so any test feedback you have with these languages would be appreciated.

These builds also require a serial number upgrade, available now from our web site. If you use an old serial number with these versions, you will get "invalid serial number" error messages.

Beta release 1 of the PrintOMatic MX Xtra for Director 11 on MacIntel is now available for download and testing. For now, only the full version of the Xtra is available, and it is only available for the MacIntel release of Director 11.

We hope to follow up later this week with a more comprehensive beta release that includes the Lite version of the Xtra, as well as a Windows build.

Note that you can use version 1.7.5 of the Xtra in Director 11 for Windows. However, you will experience problems with any extended characters you use, since they are passed to the Xtra in Unicode format instead of with the native character set.

If you are an existing user, this release will require a serial number upgrade if you want register and distribute it. Any "invalid serial number" warnings you encounter in your testing are normal.

The Xtra is in .zip format, simply expand it and place in your Director 11 Xtras folder.

Please discuss any issues you encounter on our Beta Bulletin Board.

Mon, 04 Feb 2008 08:00:00 GMT Upcoming Releases of Our Xtras
The PrintOMatic MX, PrintOMatic Lite MX and Table MX Xtras remain actively under development, debugging and improvement.

It is our goal to release updated versions of our Xtras in parallel with updated releases of Macromedia (now Adobe) Director. That's all we can tell you at the moment.

The cost for registered users to upgrade has historically been free for minor bug fixes and improvements, and a nominal $50 US for releases that have required substantial engineering efforts (e.g. major new operating systems, chip architectures, etc.)

To ensure you can receive a discounted upgrade quickly when new versions are released, take some time in advance to locate your serial number. The easiest way to do this if you haven't saved or printed a copy of your original registration email is to search the Lingo code of a production that uses one of our Xtras for the "register" command.

We will post more information about upcoming releases of our Xtras on this page and via RSS feed at http://www.printomatic.com/rss
